Staying connected to our senses through aromatherapy

The senses, by far, are the most effective when it comes to the benefits of pure essential oils, since many of my childhood memories still linger. For example, my mom’s cooking every Sunday ritual, I remember the smell of chicken baked in the oven with the aroma wafting through the house, of rosemary and orange. It was a feeling of calmness, a time for gathering and laughter. I did not realize then, the power of scent!! Until later, I had discovered a perfume store catering to essential oils, I took a whiff of orange oil, it brought back memories, clearly a happy youthful one. Ever since, I have explored the essence of these oils, how they play a major role in our well-being, even to relieving a stressful situation. When it come to the inhalation of essential oils, scent is registered via both olfactory and limbic systems of the brain in the hypothalamus region. This promotes effects on different levels of the human psyche, including the memory and mental aspects. In this way, essential oils can trigger pleasant and unpleasant memories, uplift or play down on the emotions. For this reason, we should always smell the oils before use. So that, if a person has a positive reaction or response, the oil(s) should prove to be equally more effective in treatment.

Here are suggestions, where to use essential oils:
1. Aromatherapy body/foot massage; works primarily on the automatic Nervous system, having an immediate, overall relaxation effect and engenders a more optimistic outlook on life by indirectly acting on moods. Also aids conditions including relief aches and pains, improve blood circulation and lymphatic flow, conditioning skin in its abilities to breathe and eliminate toxins, and to regulate sebaceous gland secretions, and so improve its absorption abilities and texture quality.
2. Specific pain areas; ex; stress migraine (rub the temples)
3. Bath, steam room; if you do not have a steam room you can add some porous rock in your shower and add a few drops of E.O on them.
4. Hair care; natural hair care is of great importance to the general state of health, essential oils can benefit hair growth, as well as keep the scalp healthy Ex; Hair loss blend (Roman chamomile, cedarwood, juniper, lavender, rosemary, thyme) in a carrot /jojoba) carrier oil, total of 25 drops blend to (Borage seed oil and evening primrose)) carrier oil.
5. Inhalation; A few drops of essential oil directly on a pillow case or either a tissue kept in the pocket or in the box of tissue. Oils also find their way more quickly into the bloodstream and organs through the inhalation process.
6. In the car; personalize your own perfume spray, you can blend together 1tsp of grain alcohol, 10 drops of tangerine, 50ml of distilled water. Shake well.
7. Compress (body, facial) Use a flannel or cloth with a fleece backing make excellent compress. Water-soluble oils are best for use in compresses.

Aromatherapy has been used since ancient times and continue to grow in popularity hence remedy care. Although aromatherapy should not be considered a miracle cure for serious emotional issues, the use of essential oils may assist, and sometimes greatly, with emotional issue or states. I strongly believe proper use of essential oils enhances your emotional outlook. Furthermore, aromatherapy is another means to support a healthier life style choice and complementary to holistic Medicine.
