What can I say about this word? There are so many things in this world to be grateful of but we seemed to have a hard time grasping this, we disregard or better yet, we are totally oblivious to each moment of happiness that is given to us. I look around and see all the sad faces, the horror news, the addictions, the negativity. I look again threw a clearer glass and I see people laughing, a mother with her child, a couple in love, a healthy elderly man free of physical pain with all the positive energy in the world.
Why is there such a huge gap from both ends of this world ? Is there a middle ground where you can just be happy. How do I achieve happiness? I would like to share with all my readers some of my inspiration in a grey day at the spa!
Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.– Mohandas K. Gandhi
Being truly happy is the beginning of joy, if you understand where happiness comes from and how to obtain it within, you are one step closer in finding bliss. -Anna Ruth. Dias
Some people say that joy is entirely different from happiness. That joy is attitude of the heart. It is not based on something positive happening. Unlike happiness is something that is temporary. When happiness fades away, joy remains. Joy is something that is bigger than you and I and our current circumstances. Joy brings us peace in the middle of a storm.
I would like to think that happiness is one step into being joyful, it is not different but intertwined. I also believe that being happy within your self is a definitive correlation to your health. Lots of chronic pains are derived from unhappiness of our selves which leads to stress and depression which can be link to psychosomatic illness.
Discovering what would make us happy can help us through any difficulty in life. It can help us through the quieter moments of our day. It can help us make larger, more significant decisions. It can help us in our work. Especially if we look in our hearts and answer honestly. What would make me happy? It is a simple question but one with profound consequences. Asking and answering that question, then acting on it is often our path- a path that will lead to the next step- that is Destiny. The Destiny of joy!
One exercise I went through to help us get this concept was to write down specific things that makes me happy and joyful. Here was my list in no particular order:
Having a great attitude about life, just be happy, encouraging others of their great attributes, being compassionate and non-judgemental, Cooking a nice meal, having a interesting conversation with a friend over the phone, spending a night out with some friends, getting-together with family and children, celebrating holidays with your loved ones, hugging your child, starting a new challenge, running/walking, free to have the option to choose what I want.
Make your own list of happiness.
