Think you know all there is to know about skin? Think again! The skin care industry is one industry in which people recommend products without proper education so there is a lot of missed information out there. Let’s take this time to uncover some of the most common skin myths, it could change the way you view your skin!
Myth #1 When hair gets cut it grows back thicker.
When hair grows it comes to a point at the end that is slightly thinner than the rest of your hair and when this is cut hair appears thicker. Think about this, if you have a carrot and you cut the tip, it still remains the same carrot but looks much thicker because the tip was chopped.
Myth #2 If my skin produces a lot of oil I have oily skin.
It’s true, oily skin does produce oil but this isn’t the only reason skin produces oil. When skin is dehydrated it can try to compensate for lost moisture by pumping up the speed of your oil glands. Most people who think they are oily are simply dehydrated.
Myth #3 If it says “anti-ageing” it will reverse the signs of ageing.
Anti-ageing products are normally loaded with lots of moisture which helps to plump the skin and give a more youthful appearance. Retinol or Vitamin A is one of the only product that actually helps to reverse signs of ageing.
