A flourishing metabolism is most likely the works of a healthy Thyroid. The Thyroid is a gland that greatly impacts the metabolic process. Metabolism is responsible for the way the body converts energy. When a person eats, food is converted into energy and distributed throughout the entire body.

Once the cells and organs are nourished bodily functions improve, including digestion. An imbalanced metabolism can greatly affect weight. A slowed metabolism could result in weight gain; since the body isn’t able to efficiently process foods it can store excess fats and carbohydrates.

Having an unhealthy thyroid can also make it harder to lose weight. Since the body isn’t receiving an efficient amount of energy it won’t be able to partake in physical activity.
