While You Age, Save Your Sight

While you Age, Save your Sight

Vision is arguably one of the most important human body functions. Without the ability to see, you wouldn’t be able to carry out simple daily tasks like driving to work or cooking dinner. Unfortunately, as you age your sight will decrease. The reduction in your sight is due to something called “age-related macular degeneration.” The macula is the part of your eye that helps with reading small letters or threading a needle.

When AMD hits, witnessing precious moments and being allowed to complete certain tasks alone will come to a halt. Who wants to be driven around like Miss Daisy or have to hire a caregiver when you can follow this advice to prolong the life of your eyes?

One of the best things you can do for your eyes is to stop smoking; it is never too late. Smoking can cause your blood vessels to shrink and dehydrates the eyes. You must also change the way you eat if you want to see clearly, eating lutein-rich foods such as lettuce, peas, broccoli, and spinach can help you avoid AMD.

As we age our bodies begin to freak so it important to take the steps necessary to preserve ourselves. You may not end up being an elderly bodybuilder, but at least you’ll be able to watch them on television!
